When it comes down to it, very little stands in the way of your family and their overall safety. I started thinking about different ways to create a safer environment for my family, and it all started with investing in a great new security system. I purchased a system that I felt really good about, and after it was installed, I was amazed with how well it worked. I wanted to make a little website all about creating a safe, comfortable environment for your family members. Check out this blog to learn how to create more security for you and your family members.
If you have decided it is time to have a surveillance system installed on your residential or commercial property, you have the choice of doing the work yourself or hiring a professional to do it. Regardless of which route you take, there are a few things you need to know to ensure the system is going to work at its highest efficiency. Before you start hanging anything up, or the professional comes, consider the following.
Trees and Shrubs
If you have a lot of trees and shrubs surrounding the house, you are going to need to prune some of it back, or you won't have a complete view of the property. It is best to get up on a ladder and see what can be seen through the leaves and branches. Keeping things trimmed back will be a regular chore once you have the system in place. If you cannot bear the thought of cutting back some of your vegetation, consider how you could put a camera in some of the branches. Of course, as the tree grows, you may have to move the camera around a bit. It is best to get up on a ladder and see what can be seen through the leaves and branches.
Power Access
If you need to plug in different components, make sure you have an outlet near the place you want things to be. You do not want to run extension cords around the house as they can be easily unplugged or short out due to weather. Of course, you could go with battery powered units. Just be sure you will have easy access to the different parts for when you have to replace the batteries.
Signal Transmissions
In addition to wires for power, you may need to use wires to transmit the pictures and/or video to the receiver. Make sure these wires are placed so no unwanted house guests (i.e., rodents) can get to and chew through them. If you choose to go wireless and use the Wi-Fi in the house, keep in mind that any power outage will shut down the router and keep you from seeing what is going on outside. Try to keep something battery-charged ready to take over when your router is not working. Perhaps there is an app for your cell phone?
Having a surveillance system provides your home and/or business with security from outsiders. You get to choose who to allow onto the property and who to ignore. However, if the system is not installed in a manner that gives you a complete view of the property you don't have complete security. Make sure the surveillance system installation is done correctly.
